Omertá has officially been broken. We kicked off PAX East by unveiling our action-packed new Gameplay Trailer, which revealed that Mafia: The Old Country launches August 8, 2025. The game is now available for pre-order on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and pre-purchase on PC via Steam.
Shortly after the trailer debuted, PAX East attendees and viewers at home got to witness a live behind-the-scenes look at the past, present, and future of Mafia with the "Family Takes Sacrifice" developer panel, hosted by Kinda Funny's Greg Miller with Hangar 13 Studio President Nick Baynes, Game Director Alex Cox, and Cinematics Director Tomáš Hřebíček. In the VOD above, watch the in-depth discussion of the last 23 years of Mafia, glimpses at how Hangar 13 brought the underworld of 1900s Sicily to life for Mafia: The Old Country, a Q&A session, and more development insights.
The deep dive into the series' history outlined how its thematic and design pillars have remained constant over the decades, and will continue to be explored further in Mafia: The Old Country. The retrospective also offered a rare window into the development of classic Mafia titles, largely thanks to photos and anecdotes provided by Hřebíček, who has worked on every game in the series since the original Mafia back in 2002.
